IELTS writing Part 1: Complaint Letter имеет следующую структуру (помните, каждый параграф отделяется пустой строкой):

Background / предыстория

В этой части описывается в общих чертах ситуация и что к ней привело. Например:

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with…organized/provided by your company. Three months ago I noticed your advertisement in a local paper and it seemed to me very attractive. Unfortunately, my enjoyment of…was spoiled by a number of organizational problems.

Problem

Во второй части письма даётся детальное изложение проблемы, её причины и последствия. Например:

As you will be aware, there have been many occasions during the past two weeks I have had to complain you about. First of all, I was utterly disappointed with…

Your…was a disaster/horrible.

Despite your assurance that…

Your employees turned out to be unable to…

I had difficulty with… I was most annoyed that…

I was let down by…

The final point I want to make concerns…

I kept telling my problems to the management, but no action was taken. I was forced to…This caused me considerable inconvenience.

Solution / предлагаемое решение

В этом абзаце обычно требуется возмещение ущерба с указанием размера желаемой компенсации. Например:

In view of the many ways in which my holyday did not match the claims made for it in your publicity, I expect a substantial refund. 500 euros would be an appropriate compensation for the inconveniences caused to me.

Warning/предупреждение

Опционально описываете ваши действия в случае невыполнения ваших требований. Примерно так:

Unless I hear from you within 10 days, I shall have to take legal advice on the matter.

Closing

Service in the restaurant you visited last week was a disaster. Write a complaint letter to the manager of this restaurant describing the problems you faced and demanding compensation.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with service provided by your restaurant.

Two weeks ago I noticed an advertisement in a local newspaper about your restaurant and it seemed to me very attractive. Unfortunately, my enjoyment of your meals was spoiled by awful service.

To begin with, two days prior to the dinner I had booked the table next to the window. However, I was placed near the kitchen, which was heavily unpleasant. Despite my request to provide me another more comfortable place a waitress just ignored me. Moreover, after this occasion the waitress did not appear for the next 30 minutes, so I was unable to make an order.

In addition, after the dinner my impression about the service was spoiled even more. When I finally received the bill I noticed that the amount was $25 instead of $19, which was the correct amount.

In view of the many ways in which my dinner did not match the claims made for it by your publicity, I expect an apology and a coupon for a free dinner in your restraint would be an appropriate compensation for the inconveniences caused to me.

You ordered an item on the Internet but it has not been shipped in spite of shipping terms. Write a complaint letter to the manager of this online shop describing the problem you faced and demanding compensation.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided by your internet company.

Two months ago I ordered a battery for my cell phone through your website. As has been mentioned on the website the item should be delivered in two or three weeks after the payment has been made. As can be seen from my receipt I made the payment on the 1st of March, consequently the battery should had been delivered maximum by the 22nd of March. Despite this fact, I have not received the item yet.

In view of all mentioned above, could you reply me with detailed explanation of the reasons caused me inconveniences. Secondly, please inform me when you will ship me the battery for my cell phone. In addition, I expect you to provide me a mobile phone case for free as an appropriate compensation for the discomfort caused to me.
