With the advancements in science and technology, sourcing products for clothing, pharmaceutical purposes or food is no longer an absolute necessity. In my opinion, society, from a moral perspective has no need to exploit animals for its own consumption. Alongside this, the nutritional value of a meat-based diet has been proven to be comparable to that of vegetarian food.Though animal products, being rich in protein, might be sometimes seen as a foundation of a well-balanced diet, it is the plant food that can substitute practically all staple food, not requiring torturing factory-farmed animals. As such, a nutritionally sufficient plant-based diet not only provides a full range of all essential nutrients but also returns modern eating habits back to those types of human ancestors with the added advantage of technology. To illustrate, the beans which are known to be one of the most ancient staple foods for many countries have been recently proven to be as rich in protein as beef, while not posing a threat of cholesterol overconsumption.

Yet another reason to crack down on commoditizing animals is that plant-based materials can be a viable alternative to animal products in both the textile and pharmaceutical industries. Were it not for such plant sources as natural plant fibers, animals would be still exposed to cruel, thus, morally impermissible procedures for the benefit of fur producers or commercial medical testing. Hence, by virtue of manufacturing organic materials, be it cotton clothes or vitamins derived from plants,  it has become possible to abolish utilizing animals. A prime example is using bamboo and cotton for in the textile industry, which in turn may not exclude using skins of animals that died from natural causes.

In conclusion, I believe that society has to exert full effort in curbing animal exploitation inasmuch as alternative sources of materials are available to replace the immoral practice of animal abusing production, while the benefits of animal products tend to be overestimated.
