Перефразируем задание, используя уместные синонимы: The picture illustrates the process of …

2. Overview. 

Описываем основные стадии и суть процесса: Overall, … 

Суть процесса могут помочь описать:

• main stages – не перечисляйте все шаги, выберите 3-4 основных и кратко опишите их
• where based – на заводе? в шахте? опишите локацию 
• how much time takes
• automated or manual etc

3. 2 main paragraphs.

Включаем в написание процесса описание основного оборудования  EQUIPMENT: A utility meter is responsible for sending… The gearbox is used for … The dynamo serves to…

Здесь важно описать функции каждой части системы, начиная с самой важной, а не просто перечислить то, что нарисовано на картинке.

Поработайте заранее над своим вокабуляром: вы должны знать основные термины из различных сфер от сельского хозяйства до социологии. Читайте специализированную литературу, особенно хороши тематические статьи в научных журналах.

При описании стадий используем STEPS LANGUAGE : At the first stage in the process,…. Next, … At stage three, … Finally, …

Так же, как и в эссе, описывая diagram ielts task 1, кандидату следует “вести” проверяющего по своему тексту. Steps language поможет выполнить эту задачу, одновременно разграничивая мысли друг от друга и упаковывая их в единое целое.

Для описания процесса характерен PASSIVE VOICE «substance is exposed to… / a lid is attached to ….»

The chart shows how a solar panel is designed and used.

Overall, both  processes are linear, driven by the sun energy and can be broken down into 3 main stages: input of water or air, heating and output.

The basic design of any solar panel dedicated to heat either liquid or gas includes a box-shaped body with an input and an output, covered with a lid. This lid should be made of the transparent material able to transmit sun irradiation, which heats the stream of substance inside the box. 

The only difference between devices applied for water and air heating is that the former contains tubes for the liquid stream, while gas naturally flows from inlet to outlet. For this purpose, pipes are curved in order to prolong the water exposure to light and achieve higher efficiency of the solar panel.

Overall, solar panels for both air and water heating are based on a similar system of heating process. The process itself is quite straightforward, consisting of three main steps, which are the inlet of air or water in the panel, exposure of liquid or gas to sun heat energy, and the outlet of the substances

As far as the construction of a solar panel is concerned, it consists mainly of the box, 2 pipes – outlet and inlet for water and air -, and the  transparent top that allows sun rays to penetrate inside the box and heat the substance. In case of the solar panel used for heating water, there is also a pipe inside the box through which water moves from the inlet to outlet.

As for the heating process, cold substances flow inside the box via the inlet pipe, undergo heating by the sun rays and then, having been heated, get out of the box through the outlet pipe for further use.
