Без запроса на мнение:

С запросом на мнение:

Множественное число “advantages / disadvantages” в задании не обязывает вас презентовать несколько плюсов и минусов. В этом типе IELTS эссе можно рассматривать:

Шаг 1: Introduction

после перефразированная задания формулируем 1 преимущество и 1 недостаток + пишем какую сторону поддерживаем/что перевешивает (если требуется в задании)

Шаг 2: Body Paragraph 1

презентуем преимущество в первом предложении параграфа + развиваем эту идею вглубь в 2-3 supporting sentences

Шаг 3: Body Paragraph 2

презентуем недостаток в первом предложении параграфа + развиваем эту идею вглубь в 2-3 supporting sentences

Шаг 4: Conclusion

дублируем мнение в заключении (если требуется в задании) + суммируем преимущество и недостаток

ВАЖНО: если в задании спрашивают, что перевешивает, сторону, которую вы не поддерживаете, ослабляете в последнем предложении соответствующего параграфа.

The personal information of many individuals is held by large internet companies and organisations. Do you think the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Nowadays, large internet companies and organisations store a great amount of people’s personal information. One of the benefits of such an activity could be the increased profit achieved by tailoring offers based on people’s interests and habits tracked. However, I believe that the risk of personal data breach is a drawback, which outweighs all the benefits of personal data harvesting.

The main benefit of personal data collection is that it provides companies with the possibility to increase sales and gain more profit by providing personalized offers for their clients and understanding their behaviour. The data collected allows companies to analyse enormous amounts of information about their customers from the time they are likely to buy goods to their interests and habits. On the basis of these data companies built strategies and techniques of attracting more clients and offering them the right goods at the right moment, which increases revenue.

However, the very fact that every person’s step is carefully tracked and collected provokes a certain concern about the safety of personal data, which is, in my opinion, a disadvantage beyond any possible advantages. People are not generally aware of how their personal data are protected, which makes them conscious about the threat of losing it. Feeling the lack of control over such an important element of people’s private lives leads to consumer mistrust, which is detrimental for both companies and individuals.

In conclusion, large companies could increase their revenue by collecting and using personal information, which is a benefit of such an activity. However, I believe that the risk of losing personal data is a drawback, which outweighs all the benefits.
