IELTS Cause & Solution Essay: Hunger

In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem? (Band 7.5)

The modern community is provided a variety of technics and technologies for successful agricultural development. However, the problem of starvation has become very actual in some parts of the world these days. This essay will discuss the root cause why this issue arises which is unpredictable natural disasters, which cause irreversible crop damage, followed by an analysis of the necessity of farm infrastructure reformation to improve the situation in the long run.

The evident cause of food resources deficiency in some countries is floods, drought and hurricanes possibility. To put it differently, not only do these natural phenomena bring destructive consequences to buildings and facilities, but they also influence disastrously the farm animals and crops. As a result, people are forced to starve that leads to epidemics and diseases. For instance, the prolonged drought in China in middle eighties became the reason of death of nine million of people.

The best solution to this worrying problem is a protective systems introduction and reasonable technology usage in agriculture. In other words, by involving governmental funds in creation of protective structures against natural disasters, farmers can avoid a harmful influence of these catastrophes. Moreover,on no account should the sufficient knowledge of geography and probable climatic hazardous areas be ignored. For example, due to the hot climate the highly technological irrigation system is used in Israel to prevent undesirable effects of this weather on the rural economy.

In conclusion, one of the main causes of products insufficiency in some regions is natural conditions unpredictability. The battle against global starvation will be lost without appropriate attitude to agricultural improvement.
